The Silk Road Cafés food is based on the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine and reflects some of the countries represented in the museum. Middle Eastern, North African, Mediterranean, vegetarian and celiac friendly dishes are created by our chefs. The focus in each dish is home cooking using only the freshest ingredients. You will find a selection of twelve dishes that change daily all serve with rice and vegetables or with two of our twelve vegetarian salads. We also do soups, Panini and freshly made falafels each day. All our cakes, biscuits and breads are homemade and you will find mixed berry scones shoulder to shoulder with chocolate brownies, fruit tarts, fig cake and baklava.
We have a created a unique Afternoon tea menu influenced by the collection in the Chester Beatty Library. There are no finger sandwiches or any scones but sweet and savoury treats from more than 15 countries. Sushi, chicken shawarma parcels, small bowls with paella are mixed with Persian love cakes, date truffles and Indian burfi.
The price is €27 per person and you get 5 savoury and 5 sweet options. Tea, coffee or mint tea and a glass of juice and water are all included. If you would like to add on a glass of wine the price is €32 per person.
However, we do need you to book your Afternoon tea with a twist 1 week in advance.

Celiac: Over the last few years, we have noticed an increase in customers asking about celiac friendly food. According to the Coeliac Society of Ireland “Coeliac disease affects 1 in 100 people in Ireland” and that does not take into consideration the amount of people who benefits from a gluten free diet. With this in mind we took the decision, that we needed to change our way of cooking and baking and have by now, changed our recipes, so we can provide celiac friendly food and cakes. Please ask our staff and they will guide you through what food is celiac friendly and what is not.
